George Lesica

As part of Wheeler Lab, George helps student researchers produce high-quality, reliable software through mentoring and collaboration. He reviews and writes code, gently reminds everyone to produce tests and documentation, and generally works to ensure that the software that comes out of the lab is just as good as the science.

George has a wide variety of experience in the software industry. He has worked for companies of various sizes as both an employee and a consultant, started a software company, participated in the Startup Chile incubator, presented on a variety of industry topics, designed and taught a university course on software testing, and co-founded a non-profit devoted to using technical skills for the good of society. Additionally, he regularly acts as a mentor and resource for individuals getting started in the software industry, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
